Ashley & Matt’s Wedding: Timeless Elegance Never Goes out of Style

When Ashley Casey and Matthew Milburn started their wedding planning journey, the one thing they knew for sure was that they wanted it to be “the wedding of the year.” The couple also said they wanted it to be an “elegant but welcoming black-tie affair, balancing intimate moments with friends and family with high energy and lots of dancing in a beautiful setting.”

The couple wanted to be very involved in the design process, especially the groom, who has a passion for floral design and has enjoyed surprising his bride throughout their relationship by creating custom beautiful flower arrangements for her. However, the groom had a vision of all white florals and greenery, while the bride preferred pops of light and bright summertime colors. Rather than choosing just one design, the couple took inspiration from their wedding venue, Barnsley Gardens Resort. The venue is home to beautiful historic brick ruins, which would be the backdrop of their ceremony. These ruins lie tucked away amongst a bright and vibrant garden; two very different styles which harmoniously complement one another.

Drawing on that inspiration, we teamed up with Edge Design Group to create a design in which the outdoor ceremony space was full of natural overflowing greenery and all white florals for a timeless elegant look then incorporated the bride’s vision into the cocktail hour and reception by sprinkling in accents of yellow and lilac for a sophisticated garden party aesthetic.

It’s often said that it’s the little things, the details, that make a marriage, and the same can be said for a wedding. When a couple can see themselves reflected in their wedding design, that’s how they know they chose the perfect vendors for their special day. From the icing detailing on the cake matching the lace on the bride’s veil to the groom’s favorite flowers covering the ceremony arch, those are the things that make a wedding day truly magical.
